We are so excited to finally be able to go through this process. I know that the burning question is "when are y'all going to get a baby?" We cannot answer that question because we are chosen by a birth mother. We know that God will have a baby that is meant for us, and we are willing to wait as long as it takes! We have a lot to do in the mean time, but will probably really start getting "things" together after the home study. Don't let that fool you though, I already have bedding picked out and the nursery pretty much planned ;) Thank you for all of the prayers and well wishes. We have such a peace about everything is happening and know that it is because of all of the love and support. I'll add some more information we I have time to sit down, but I promise to keep everyone updated. Love to you all!

Tagged

I've been tagged by email to answer these questions about myself, but I figured this would be fun to post here instead:

4 jobs I have had:
1. I got a new camera for my birthday and have been trying figure everything out. I love Picasa (yes, I am behind the times). It makes it so much easier to post these--I had no idea! In a nutshell, Tim and I drove to Kansas City and hung out there for 2 days. We stayed in Westport (or near there??) and walked around, went to Country Club Plaza, etc. Then, we drove to Iowa to see Tim's family. I have lots of pictures, but they were all of the kiddos and didn't want to post without asking parents first (the teacher in me :) We had a great time, and got to see EVERYONE in ONE trip! (I think.) Then, we drove over to Omaha to the College World Series. I can't wait to go back when I actually care about the teams. Let me just say that someone from the Big XII should have been there. Talk about a poor match up of teams! At one of the games the score was something like 11-2 (before we finally left.) Omaha was neat too. I loved the lack traffic in all of these places. Then, we drove to Norman, OK. Where we ended up staying next door to Tim's parents and didn't find out until we were both leaving the hotel the next morning. Weird! If you notice, there aren't many pictures of Tim and me together, except the one I took. That is because I was too afraid to let a stranger touch my new camera!!!

Walking on Air

Many of you already know about these wonderful pieces of heaven, but I found the other day that most of my friends didn't even know they existed! It was hailing and thundering. Generally, it doesn't even phase Dinah, but we had the brightest flash of lightning and loudest crack of thunder I have ever heard! Dinah ran to the bedroom and shot into her house. I looked outside wondering if it could get any worse. I settled back into the couch watching my Lifetime movie :) when I heard sirens. Not just a couple of sirens, but an army of trucks and wailing. I looked outside again and a house behind us was on fire. It is about 200 yards from our house and was engulfed in flames. I called Tim, who was on his way home, and he went to check out. All I could think was "I hope the people are ok." We watched it burning for a few hours. They had to use aerial attempts to extinguish the fire, and it turns out that the people were out of town, so no one was injured. Unfortunately, the house looks completely destroyed. It just made me realize how quickly life can change. I am so thankful for everything and everyone surrounding me.

Dog Days

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vvgUffG5w9U/RmNleK29-aI/AAAAAAAAAAM/9Hpu0MBymGI/s200/Random+044.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5072009174334699938" />
Last weekend, Tim and I adopted a dog from outside of Petco. Read on before you get too excited. A dog rescue group sets up there every weekend. So, we brought home this adorable "two year old dog" that tugged at our heartstrings. She was absolutely precious and so well behaved. The people with the rescue agency assured us that she was healthy and happy, but that she had just had puppies that were adopted faster than she was. We signed the papers, forked over the cash, and went in Petco to buy all of her goodies. With it being Memorial Day, we couldn't get her into the vet until Tuesday to get her shots, etc. So, quickly we fell in love with Molly. Dinah was actually really patient, but Molly was so excited to have a cat around, she kept lunging at her to play. We figured that the newness would wear off and they would settle in. On Tuesday , I loaded Molly into the car to see the vet. For some reason, I had a sinking feeling that something was going to go wrong. She had been coughing and sneezing lots and had trouble with going to the bathroom. The vets did some blood work, fecal samples, etc. Molly had coccidia (a parasite) and heartworm. She was a very sick little dog. The vet thought that she also might have been closer to five years old.

Tim and I were heart broken. We made the difficult decision to give her back to the rescue group. Her bills were going to hundreds of dollars, and the vet couldn't guarantee that she was very healthy. Despite being beside myself for having to give up the precious dog, and not knowing what would happen to her, I became angry with the rescue group. How hard would it be to disclose an animal's health concerns before someone decides to adopt them?? I realize that most rescue organizations operate in a much more professional manner, but this situation has made me leary of ever adopting a dog again. He also does the scoreboard for the Express games when they need him. I am still teaching 2nd grade in Georgetown.
3. Katie and Travis moved into their new house here. Katie is still the store manager at Pier 1 Kids and Travis graduated from Austin Police Academy last month.
4. Tim and I are settled into our house. We still have lots of projects going on (and some started but never finished :)) We have become good friends with our neighbors and have a great time going back and forth across the street hanging out.
5. I am already bored of not working. It hasn't even been a week yet! Let me know of anything entertaining going on (except cleaning the house and cooking dinner.)

Okay, okay. . .
